The following article was published by the Sunday Observer

"Children who ate healthy school meals instead of packed lunches scored higher marks in tests, were less disruptive and concentrated longer in the classroom."

These were the findings of a study involving thousands of pupils and hundreds of parents and school teachers who confirmed the theory that, transforming a child's diet can improve how they learn and behave.

Of the 24,000 pupils studied, 15,600 opted for the healthy meals, while 8.400 went on with packed lunches.  Those who chose school dinners performed better in tests, taken four times over the school day.  There was a significant impact in all areas of the children's schooling from behaviour, social relationships, health and learning.  The study also revealed better punctuality and attendance.

Mr Ed's Pantry

Mr Eds Pantry SmallAt St George's we provide a range of healthy and nutritious school meals at a competitive daily charge. We are committed to the long-term aim of improving the health of all our school children.  We strongly believe that having a nutritionally balanced meal provides our pupils with the capacity to focus mentally and physically throughout their school day.

We regularly welcome parents to come and join us for lunch to sample the delicious menu.

Packed Lunches

We do not allow fizzy drinks, crisps, sweets or chocolate (including chocolate covered biscuits) in packed lunches.  We also ask parents not to include nuts of any  kind in your child's packed lunch box. Some children have nut allergies and even sitting next to a child eating nuts may cause an allergic reaction.
