Tennis Tournament - June 2016
On Tuesday 14th June, St George's Tennis Team participated in a local tennis competition at The Sacred Heart Language College. We travelled there by minibus and were ready to play our best! When we got there we were ranked one to eight, like all the other schools. We played five games each and won four, the weather was terrible but we still played on! The Sacred Heart girls were very welcoming and overall it was a great day and everyone had fun.
Premier League Schools Tournament - May 2016
St George's 6-a-Side football team travelled to Liverpool on Monday 16th May to take part in the finals of the Premier League Schools Tournament. The finals took place at Everton FC's home ground, Goodison Park on Tuesday 17th, and our team were representing our local Premier League team, Watford FC.
The boys were very excited and played really well in their group, drawing 1-1 with West Ham, beating Sunderland 5-1, just losing out to Crsytal Palace 0-1 and finally beating Man Utd 3-1!
The boys got to visit the player's dressing room, had their photos taken with the Premier League Cup and walked out of the players' tunnel, following in the footsteps of many Everton and other premier league footballers! They even got to pretend they were on 'Match of the Day' and did poses down the camera!
Overall, we came 2nd in our group which was a great achievement. Aston (6H) won the 'Golden Boot' Award for scoring the most goals in the U11's tournament - with an impressive 6 goals across 4 games!
Taking part in this tournament was a fantastic experience and the boys did Watford FC and St George's very proud. Well done!

Year 1 & 2 Gymnastics CompetitionIn the first year that Harrow have organised a Gymnastics competition that included Year 1 students, on 5th May 2016, twelve children from St George's took part and both our Year 1 & 2 children were collectively awarded a bronze position overall. For such young ages to present at a competition as part of a team or individually, the competition saw fantastic achievements and presentation from all the children involved. A special mention goes to Ameilia from 1R for an individual bronze medal for her triumph in the floor and vault routine. Well done children!
International Schools Gaelic Football Tournament -Michael Collins CupOn Friday 22nd April, St George's took two teams to take part in the International Schools GAA Tournament at Tara GAA grounds, where over 400 children took part in many games throughout the day.
It was a cold, breezy day on the pitches but we played lots of games to keep us warm. Both teams qualified from their group stages to play in the quarter finals. Team 2 unfortunately lost to an experienced team in the quarter finals but put up a very good fight, just missing out by 3 points! Team 1 made it to the final of their group, playing against our own Cork visitors, Watergrasshill! St George's were unlucky in the final but were delighted to come 2nd overall in the Intermediate group. Most improved players for Team 1 were Anna and John and most improved players on Team 2 were Thomas and Caitlin.
It was a fun, active day and the St George's children showed great skills and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
