Gaelic Football International Schools Tournament
On Friday 27th April, St George's teamed up with our Cork partner school, Watergrass Hill Primary, creating three super Gaelic football teams to take part in the International Schools Tournament at Tir Chonaill Gaels.
The children played very well during the play-off rounds and the day ended with two of our own teams playing against each other in the final, with Team 1 winning overall by 5 points!
It was a very enjoyable day and the children continued to play brilliantly even when the rain came in the afternoon!
Hockey - London Youth Games - 22nd March 2018
In January, St George's Hockey Squad qualified top of their Borough, once again enabling them to attend the prestigious event that is the London Youth Games.
On Thursday 22nd March, six children travelled to Crystal Palace to participate in an all day finals tournament against 32 other schools representing different boroughs across London. The competition, level of standard, skill and play was extremely high, so the pressure was on from the very start.
St George's won 2, lost 2, and drew 2 games, but sadly it was not our day to make it into the playoffs.
That said, St George's demonstrated fantastic leadership, sportsmanship, passion, skill and courage throughout the intense competition and the children should be extremely proud of themselves.
A big thank you to Mrs Egwue for taking the time to assist with transport and giving up her day to support the children - it was hugely appreciated!
Girls' Football - London Youth Games Qualifier - 15th March 2018
St George's entered the Harrow Schools' London Youth Games qualifier on 15th March 2018. It was a fantastic afternoon with many football games. The team showed great spirit to compete at such a high level throughout the afternoon. Not only did St George's place 1st, without conceding a single goal, they also managed to qualify for the London Youth Games for a third consecutive year.
Girls' Football - London Youth Games - 20th March 2018
On Tuesday 20th March, the St George's Girls' Football Team went to Redbridge to represent their borough in the London Youth Games. They were competing against the top 32 schools across all the London boroughs. The team showed great team spirit and played some excellent football. It was a very tiring day, full of emotions. Our best moment was when Nikola (6W) scored the team’s first goal in our last game. We all really enjoyed the London youth games.

Girls' Premier League Schools Tournament - 9th February 2018
This was a 6-a-side tournament on Friday 9th February 2018 run by Watford FC and hosted by Queen's School, Bushey. It was a tough and physically demanding competition for the whole team. The pitches were small and game speed was very fast. Although St George's did not qualify, it was a really fun tournament and the team experienced playing some really good teams.
Boys' Premier League Schools Tournament - 7th February 2018
This was a 6-a-side tournament run by Watford FC and hosted by Queen's School, Bushey. The team played some excellent football and managed to top their group with 6 wins out of a possible 6 and scoring over 30 goals. They progressed to the semi-finals against local rivals St Teresa's. It was tough fixture but the team managed to win in extra time 5-3. However in the final, the team played a really strong side from North London and lost 3-0. This meant St George's narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Premier League Schools Tournament.
Basketball - London Youth Games Qualifier - 8th February 2018
St George's entered a team into the Harrow Schools London Youth Games qualifier on 8th February 2018. Many members of the team were new to basketball. However due to our new multi-purpose football and basketball goal, the team showed some great ability in the playground. They played five games, winning four and drawing one. Sadly they did not reach the final due to goal difference, but it was a fantastic day out and the children look foward to playing more basketball.
High 5 Netball Match - Harrow League - 1st February 2018
On Thursday 1st February, the netball team had a victory against Norbury School! We practiced tirelessly during training which finally paid off! We got our positions and they were the best. In the first quarter of the match, we scored four goals. Then we swapped positions and Norbury scored two goals – they had really good Netball skills. However we blocked a lot of balls to stop them scoring even more. Then the third quarter started and we were on a roll! We scored two more goals which left us in the lead. The fourth quarter started but with both teams’ defending skills no one scored. In the end, we won 6 – 2 and we celebrated with Norbury by shaking hands and having juice and biscuits. What a good match that was!’ (Written by Ella Davenport, 6E)
